Mark Walker is the Region Business Leader for Yahoo! News and Education, where he oversees the industry-leading news and education properties in the North American Region. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Mark was co-principal, alongside music industry legend Al Teller, of Oceanaix Ventures LLC, a media consultancy advising investment firms, including Acorn Capital Management and Tracer Capital Management. As the head of international legal and business affairs at BMG Entertainment from 2000 to 2003, Mark led BMG's legal and business affairs activities in more than 48 countries worldwide. He was the Executive Vice President, Business Affairs of Atomic Pop LLC (an Internet music company financed by the Apollo Group) and Senior Vice President, Business Affairs for Red Ant Entertainment, an independent record label financed by Wasserstein Perrella & Co. Mark's entertainment industry career began in 1993 with PolyGram Records (now part of Universal Music Group); first as Director, Legal Affairs and ultimately as Vice President, Legal Affairs. From 1988 until 1993, he was an associate in the Media Finance Group of the O'Melveny & Myers law firm in New York. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Pi Tau Sigma) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and J.D. from Stanford University.
